Description

Our client is looking for an experienced buyer to join their organization. This role will report directly to the managing director.


Key Responsibilities:


Procurement & Supply Chain Management

  • Lead and coordinate the entire procurement process from tender stage through to site delivery.
  • Strengthen and streamline the supply chain by effectively liaising between suppliers and Project Managers.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing and establish long-term partnerships with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Contract/Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors to negotiate subcontractor pricing and terms when required.
  • Oversee the purchasing process to ensure compliance with internal procedures and accurate goods-receipt recording.
  • Manage the company’s tools inventory and ensure proper control.

Financial Oversight & Reporting

  • Track procurement spending against budgeted costs to maintain cost-efficiency.
  • Generate and distribute weekly purchasing reports to Contracts and Project Managers.
  • Conduct stock assessments and enforce robust inventory management practices.
  • Ensure accuracy in matching purchase orders, goods received notes (GRNs), and invoices.
  • Work closely with the accounts team to manage creditor balances and cash flow.
  • Align with the QS team on financial planning and forecasting.
  • Lead the monthly stocktake and reporting process.

Compliance & Supplier Management

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with Revenue requirements related to imports/exports.
  • Negotiate shipping rates with domestic and international logistics providers.
  • Collaborate with key suppliers to secure favorable pricing and credit terms based on demand forecasts.
  • Support the Estimating team with market pricing insights and competitive quoting.
  • Maintain and monitor a Supplier Performance Metric to encourage continuous improvement.

Quality & Regulatory Compliance

  • Partner with the QA team to address and resolve supplier quality issues.
  • Adhere to the Group’s QEHS Management System, including compliance with documented procedures and proper record-keeping.


Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, including margin analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and supplier relationship management abilities.
