Description

This position involves supporting Senior Project Managers and Project Directors in delivering design, planning, and environmental assessments for renewable energy projects through to the consenting stage. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the coordination and management of key documentation such as EIA and AA Screenings, Planning & Environmental Reports, Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR), and Natura Impact Statements (NIS), as needed across various renewable energy projects.
  • Overseeing baseline environmental and constraint assessments, ensuring smooth collaboration among project team members.
  • Aiding the planning team in monitoring updates to planning and environmental legislation, as well as national, regional, and local authority development plans. Help identify and assess key developments relevant to ongoing projects, and contribute to company submissions when required.
  • Supporting the Communications and Engagement team in creating and managing effective consultation plans for engaging with local communities and stakeholders, including both statutory and non-statutory bodies. Help with preparations for and participation in community engagement events.
  • Actively engaging in the Performance Management process to achieve individual and team objectives.


The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and attributes:

  • A Level 8 Honours Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • A Level 9 Postgraduate qualification in a relevant area (e.g., Environmental Science, Engineering, Planning Law) is desirable but not essential.
  • At least 3 years of experience contributing to planning applications and environmental assessments.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning project development, especially coordinating and managing environmental assessments.
  • Proven ability to work within and lead multidisciplinary project teams.
  • In-depth understanding of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process and familiarity with Irish planning policies and regulations.
  • Experience working on renewable energy and related infrastructure projects, especially Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) projects.
  • Background in handling diverse project portfolios with differing priorities, risks, and timelines.
  • Experience in coordinating the production of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) and Appropriate Assessments (AA/NIS).
