Senior Lead Maintenance Electrician

Gi Group is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Lead Maintenance Electrician to join a highly skilled maintenance team at a major wastewater treatment facility in Dublin.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, direct, and motivate a team of electricians in a highly automated, industrial processing environment.
- Perform maintenance activities on electrical systems including instrumentation, PLCs, and Variable Speed Drives to ensure safe and reliable plant operations.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are carried out in compliance with site procedures and policies.
- Oversee the execution and continual improvement of planned maintenance routines using the PEMAC maintenance management system.
- Delegate maintenance activities to team members and ensure accurate logging of tasks on PEMAC.
- Work closely with the maintenance planner to manage PMs, backlog, and incident resolution.
- Maintain and update operation and maintenance documentation.
- Respond quickly to minimize equipment downtime through effective root cause analysis and problem-solving.
- Provide training to electricians, enhancing skills in equipment handling and systematic fault diagnosis.
- Analyse and resolve recurring technical issues.
- Monitor spare parts usage and manage stock levels.
- Offer out-of-hours support during key operational phases such as start-ups and shutdowns.
- Supervise a team including maintenance electricians, apprentices, and contractor electricians.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including contractor management and project documentation.
- Foster strong communication and collaboration between electrical and mechanical teams.
- Participate in the on-call electrician roster.
Essential Requirements
- Proven ability to manage and lead maintenance staff effectively.
- Fully qualified electrician with a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft – Electrical (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of switchgear, MCC controls, relay logic, and AC/DC systems.
- Advanced fault-finding and diagnostic skills in an industrial setting.
- At least 10 years' experience in a similar industrial environment.
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems within wastewater or similar process industries.
- In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and responsibilities.
Skills:
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and related communication protocols (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus).
- Familiarity with ABB Variable Speed Drives.
- Knowledge of ATEX requirements and zoned areas.
- CompEx certification.
- Experience with medium voltage switching and related qualifications.
- Working knowledge of SCADA systems for process control and diagnostics.
- Proficiency with digital tools including Microsoft Office and email systems.
