Summary:
Join a friendly, family‑run hardware store where your leadership and commercial decisions will directly shape local trade performance. As Trade Counter Manager you’ll run the day‑to‑day counter, drive sales growth through strong customer and supplier relationships, and coach a small team to deliver excellent service and repeat business. This is a hands‑on role with real autonomy, clear targets, and strong opportunities for progression within a stable, community‑focused business.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily operations of the trade counter to ensure efficiency and high standards
- Deliver excellent customer service and clear product guidance to trade customers
- Drive trade sales, hit monthly targets and maximise margin opportunities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers
- Manage stock levels, placing orders and merchandising displays to ensure availability
- Prepare and manage quotations accurately and in a timely manner
- Lead, coach and support the team to achieve high performance and service KPIs
- Resolve customer queries, orders and complaints efficiently to protect retention
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a hardware store, builders’ merchants or similar environment
- Strong product knowledge of materials, DIY supplies and tools
- Experience supervising or leading a team with a focus on coaching and delivery
- Excellent communication, customer service and organisational skills
- Good problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail
- Competent in computer systems, sales software and stock management systems
