Are you an experienced and skilled HGV Mechanic looking for an exciting opportunity in a dynamic and growing company? Gi Group Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced mechanic for our client in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, where your expertise will be valued and rewarded.
About the Role:
Reporting to the workshop manager, the successful candidate will have excellent service, repair and maintenance skills on buses, HGV’s and LCV’s with a good knowledge of electric systems, a team-oriented attitude and pride in a job well done.
This is a busy work environment, working to daily and weekly deadlines and incorporating an ethos of quality assurance for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HGVs and associated equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure vehicles meet legal and regulatory standards.
- Keep accurate records of all work carried out and maintain service logs.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance.
- Stay updated with industry standards and advancements in HGV technology.
- Provide training and advice to apprentices and co-workers as required
- Ability to use power and hand tools related to motor vehicle service and repair
Requirements:
- Fully qualified mechanic with experience in HGV maintenance and repair.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong diagnostics capabilities with good computer skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Full, clean driving licence (HGV licence is an advantage).
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in the transport industry.
- Professional demeanour and superior team service skills
