A well-established and progressive accountancy practice in the West of Ireland is seeking a Recently Qualified Accountant to join its growing team in Galway. Role Summary
The successful candidate will work closely with senior team members to deliver financial statements, tax compliance, and advisory support to a varied portfolio of clients. The position is ideal for someone eager to gain more responsibility and deepen their experience within an accountancy practice.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Compliance
Preparation and finalisation of annual accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
Completion of income tax and corporation tax returns via ROS and practice software
Preparation and review of VAT returns, PAYE submissions, and management accounts
Direct communication with clients to resolve queries and collect required information
Assisting in onboarding new clients and ensuring accurate data setup across systems
Technical Development
Keeping up to date with Irish GAAP and Revenue compliance requirements
Ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal quality standards in all work completed
Participation in CPD and internal training to strengthen technical and advisory skills
Practice Operations
Supporting partner-led advisory projects and technical research
Assisting in process improvement and sharing best practices with junior staff
Mentoring and reviewing work from trainee accountants where appropriate
Requirements
ACA / ACCA / CPA qualified (or equivalent), ideally with 1+ year’s post-qualification experience in Irish practice
Strong knowledge of Irish GAAP, tax legislation, and Revenue systems
Experience with common accountancy software (e.g. Surf, Sage, Relate, Thesaurus, ROS)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in dealing with clients directly
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
High level of attention to detail and ownership of quality standards
Desirable Experience
Familiarity with platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks, or AutoEntry
Exposure to specialist industries such as medical, retail, or hospitality
Interest in growing client advisory capabilities and business support skills
