Plant System Operator
Gi Group Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for a Plant System Operator in Co. Roscommon.
Our client is a leader in the Irish renewables market with a specific focus on Anaerobic Digestion.
The Plant System Operator will be an essential member of the small but growing team and will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the anaerobic digestion facility.
This role would be particularly suitable to someone who has an interest in maintaining machinery or has previous Mechanic or Electrical experience.
Your Roles & Responsibilities
Plant Operations & Monitoring
- Monitor, and maintain AD plant equipment, including digesters, CHP engines, pumps, and feeding equipment.
- Conduct daily checks to identify potential operational problems on the plant.
- Adjust plant controls, within guidelines, to maintain process stability and efficiency.
- Monitor feedstock intake, ensuring correct handling and processing.
- Monitor digestate processing and ensure compliance with disposal regulations.
- Operation of site mobile plant including a Telescopic handler.
- The role entails a rota based on-call element.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Assist the Plant Manager with routine maintenance and minor repairs on mechanical and electrical components.
- Identify faults and report to the Plant Manager to minimize downtime.
- Support Plant Manager with external contractors for complex repairs or servicing.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all health & safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Follow environmental compliance guidelines, including emissions and waste disposal.
- Use weighbridge software to provide data for regulatory compliance.
- Input to risk assessments to improve working practices.
- Report near misses to the Plant Manager
Data Recording & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of plant operations, maintenance activities, and energy output.
- Analyze process data and report trends to the Plant Manager.
- Assist in process optimization to improve efficiency and sustainability.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with the plant team, management, and external stakeholders.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What you will bring to the role
- Experience in an operational or maintenance role within a manufacturing, industrial, waste, or energy facility.
- Strong awareness of health & safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Great attention to detail.
- Basic mechanical / electrical knowledge
- Experience in anaerobic digestion, waste management, or renewable energy sectors.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and process automation would be advantageous.
- Technical qualifications desirable but not essential.
- Telehandler license would be a distinct advantage.

Working Conditions:
- Shift work, including weekends and call-out duties as required.
