GiGroup have partnered with an accountancy practice in Galway who is looking to add a Senior Bookkeeper to their team. This is a fulltime role and report to the Accounts Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping tasks for a varied client portfolio across multiple industries.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, and perform accurate bank reconciliations.
- Manage financial data using accounting software such as Surf, Sage, QuickBooks, and Xero.
- Process payrolls using Thesaurus or BrightPay, including high-volume payrolls.
- Ensure compliance with Revenue regulations and meet all statutory deadlines.
- Communicate professionally with clients to request, clarify, and confirm financial information.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support the preparation of accurate year-end financial statements.
- Take full ownership of complex or high-volume client portfolios, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of services.
- Review bookkeeping and payroll entries completed by junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Provide training and ongoing support to junior team members on accounting systems and technical procedures.
- Proactively identify potential client issues and escalate them for partner review when necessary.
- Contribute to the enhancement of internal systems and the development of quality control procedures.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in a bookkeeping and/or payroll role within an accountancy or payroll practice.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and Revenue compliance requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, formulas, and formatting.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and meet deadlines independently.
- Comfortable working with a variety of accounting and payroll platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of data accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
