Our Client is looking for a Senior R&D engineer to join their team in the heart of Galway City. The role will involve:
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the enhancement and expansion of the company’s technology and intellectual property portfolio through innovative thinking and inventive solutions.
- Lead the design and development of new products, providing technical expertise throughout all phases—from concept through to commercialization.
- Prepare and contribute to design documentation aligned with the project phase, including technical reports, product specifications, risk assessments, and quality records.
- Tackle technical challenges and uncertainties to progress product development effectively.
- Gain and maintain a thorough understanding of the relevant clinical areas and emerging technologies and devices.
- Ensure clear communication within the project team by clarifying roles and sharing results and insights effectively.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop and implement testing, verification, validation, and design review procedures as assigned by the Line Manager.
- Commit to continuous personal growth to enhance both technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
- Promote excellence in R&D by contributing to or leading initiatives that improve practices, expand knowledge, and strengthen team capabilities.
Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related scientific field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least five years of relevant experience in the medical device sector, ideally in product development.
- Proficiency in finite element modeling software is highly desirable.
- Experience with CAD tools, statistical analysis software, and rapid prototyping techniques is an advantage.
- Strong foundation in biomechanics and mechanical design and analysis.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated track record of managing tasks and meeting project deadlines.
